On our trip to the Wetland, you will be responsible for collecting data for a specific job. The jobs are:
Temperature & Wind Monitor
Soil Profile & Compaction Expert
Animal Life Collector
Biotic Features & Grid Drawer
Job Descriptions
Temperature & Wind Monitor: Use the air and soil thermometers to measure the temperature of the air and soil, and check the wind conditions every 5 minutes during the time at the pond.
Soil Profile & Compaction Expert: Using the garden trowel tool, remove a section of soil from your quadrant. Use this sample to draw a diagram of what you see (are there layers? Are there rocks? Different soil types? Insects?)
Animal Life Collector: Look closely and carefully IN YOUR QUADRANT, Are there any signs of animal life in your area? (Insects are animals!), Gently collect samples in your plastic sample containers, Record your findings and what role it might play in this ecosystem
Biotic Features & Grid Drawer: Use symbols to indicate where insects (or insect evidence such as webs, or burrows), tracks, or any other evidence was found. Be sure to draw in the plant life you see as well.

Get into your groups from the Pond Study on Wednesday and complete the Focus Questions below. Make sure the document is shared with Mr.Morris on Google Drive.
